The members of the Laboratory of Materials Modeling and Analysis of Optical Processes are focused on explaining the physical and physicochemical foundations of photoinduced processes occurring in modern composite and hybrid materials, which have applications in areas such as optics, optoelectronics, photovoltaics, and photocatalysis. The researchers conduct experimental studies based on linear and nonlinear optical phenomena occurring in functional materials. At the same time, using quantum-chemical methods applicable in computational modeling, they predict and describe the physicochemical properties of the materials under investigation.
The research group is engaged in the broad field of material property modeling using classical and quantum methods. Calculations of structural and electronic properties are performed for periodic and isolated atomic structures, both in bulk and nanometric dimensions. The use of experimental and computational techniques allows for the design of advanced functional materials and solving research problems related to contemporary challenges in materials physics.
