In 2020, the "Environmental and New Materials Research Laboratory" was established as part of competition no. RPSL.01.01.00-IZ.01-24-292/18 for Action 1.1, a key research infrastructure for the region under the Regional Operational Program of the Silesian Voivodeship for 2014-2020. This infrastructure features a concentrated and stationary structure equipped with advanced research and measurement equipment that enables studies in the fields of new materials and environmental research. The Environmental and New Materials Research Laboratory is located in and operated within the laboratories and workshops situated in the building of the Faculty of Exact, Natural, and Technical Sciences in Częstochowa. It consists of advanced equipment designed for comprehensive research into new materials and environmental science. Due to its competitiveness and innovation, the project is strategically significant for the region and aligns with the technological areas identified in the Regional Innovation Strategy and the Technology Development Program of the Silesian Voivodeship for 2010-2020, namely: material production and processing, environmental protection technologies, polymer and composite materials for medicine and energy. The laboratory is dedicated to conducting both fundamental and applied research in environmental science, supporting the Intelligent Specializations of the Region in energy and research on new organic materials, with a focus on energy and medicine. In the field of energy, the main objective is to support scientific research conducted at the University and provide assistance to businesses in renewable energy technologies and innovative methods for the removal of solid and gaseous pollutants from the environment, as well as conducting integrated environmental monitoring. In the field of medicine, the laboratory will support tasks closely related to the creation, adaptation, or absorption of technologically advanced solutions in medical engineering, biotechnology, and materials engineering. The aim of this research is to develop new technologies, products, and implementations in collaboration with entrepreneurs, primarily from the Silesian Voivodeship. This research contributes to the implementation of the Regional Innovation Strategy in the area of medicine for this voivodeship.
